Mercy Hospital for Women

Mercy Hospital for Women specialises in the treatment of women of all ages and their infants. MHW is Victoria’s second largest maternity hospital and is a major teaching and research institution, one of three tertiary referral centres in the state. 

The hospital employs over 1,000 staff, performs more than 5,000 operations every year and manages over 18,000 inpatients annually.

 This year, Mercy Health Foundation is working with Mercy Hospital for Women to establish Victoria's first Breastmilk Bank, which will provide breastmilk to sick and premature babies. Find out more about Mercy Breastmilk Bank

The Foundation and Mercy Hospital for Women are also working with the University of Melbourne to establish an endowed Professorial Chair in Maternal Foetal Medicine.

The hospital operates a women’s clinic in Ivanhoe and the PANCH facility in Preston. The specialist care centre, Mercy Health Lymphoedema Clinic operates from East Melbourne and at Mercy Hospital for Women.
